fallin for Ombre

For a few months now, I have been scouring my hair magazines and websites all in search of "ombre" haircolor. I have seen it on a variety of celebs for close to a year now, knowing all along that the look would eventually blow up. I haven't had very many requests for it, simply because I'm not sure people know what to call it or where to even start when it comes to explaining it. "Ombre" is a french word that basically means "shaded." Typically it's used in the textile business, describing coloring that goes from dark to light. I think French colorists stole it for lack of a more simple title.

So yes, this is my obsession, sometimes it takes me time to jump on trends, usually out of mere fear. Once I find something that works for me, I stay with it. However, my new hair day dream has been highlighting the perimeter of my hair and making it a bright vibrant goldy copper...okay enough, on to the pics of my MOST FAVORITE ombre stylistas...these ladies just make me drool...

Ms. Whitney Port, she pulls the lightness together by keeping vibrant blonde pieces around her hairline...looove this.

Shenae Grimes, I only know of her for her hair, but after googling her, I realized she's on 90210...ugh, nothing beats the original...awesome hair though!

My girl crush, I don't care how bitchy she's considered to be, this girl is just perfecto. Her look is way more subtle, which I think is a great option for anyone who is afraid of change. Notice Olivia's ends become just a tad bit lighter..

The beautiful Ashlee Simpson...perfect brunette version of Ombre Color!!

Drew Barrymore, always leave it to Drew to get it just right...she, to me , IS America's Sweetheart..perfect in her own way, like the rest of us. ;)

Alexa Chung, so fresh and by far the originator of Ombre color. I adore Alexa, she's so "in her own skin".

Welp, that's it guys. I'm looking forward to more clients wanting to step out of the box and give this look a try. But if you can't, I will. :)

wedding season...

With this gorgeous weather we've been having, I can't help but think how perfect it has been for outdoor weddings. Liana and I have an old friend of ours, Angela, that will be getting married in the upcoming weeks. I'm excited to be creating a loose romantic style for her big day.

She plans on having more of a vintage inspired whimsical theme, which I'm sure will be delightful. A weekend ago, I went to visit her to work on some hair ideas. I think we came up with a couple different variations on how to style her on the day of. I hope to repost a few better shots of her completely dolled up on the day of. Until then, here are a few pics of our "practice" looks....

Enjoy the cooler days ahead of us!!! xo!
(Thanks Angela for letting me use our "reference" pics for our blog, you look great!)
