Fall Inspiration

I think hair and fashion go hand in hand...either one dictates the other.  Whatever we are seeing on the runway is always a collaborative effort between a fashion designer, a makeup artist, and a hair stylist. I tend to reach toward fashion bloggers for inspiration before celebrities or even fashion designers, mainly because these bloggers live in a more realistic world. They are women just like us, who are making their wardrobe work on a budget we are either at, or aren't far away from.

Below are just a FEW of my faves, as my internet surfing is usually dedicated to browsing fashion or cooking blogs. I should definitely spend more time reading up on politics and current affairs, but everyone needs their veg time, right?

This is Emily, she's the first blogger I ever started follwing, sometimes I think this girl and I live parallel lives....check out her out: www.cupcakesandcashmere.com Also her "oh so chic" pants are by DolceVita and you can buy them at Urban Outfitters.

Another blogger I adore is Diya, she hails from Austin and has such an original look. This outfit in particular caught my eye. So much that I went and bought the skirt at American Apparel. She runs www.diyainherstilettos.com

Then there's Karla, my absolute blogcrush. I love how Karla is always mixing vintage finds from her local thriftstores...this particularly strikes a chord with me because of my highschool years. My Mom was  starting out as a teacher and not able to provide the "latest" fashions for my preppy "cheerleadery" butt, so I was forced to hunt through used stuff in my spare time on the weekends. Thank God this was the case, it not only taught me to be original in my style but to know that you can do this on a budget. So finally here is the beautiful Karla, her awesome jeans are SeebyChloe, I was also able to score the beauties online for $66 bucks!!! Unfortunately for me, about 6 inches of denim need to be hemmed away, but that's okay. You can check out Karla at www.karlascloset.blogspot.com

Here's to a much needed weekend! Enjoy!

When Long Hair goes Wrong...

I have always been a huge fan of long hair. I love the versatility it provides, the femininity and romanticism that comes along with it, and to be honest, playing with it. Since we were little girls, our Mom never really cut our hair short. Actually a lot of our haircuts were performed by her, in our kitchen with regular craft scissors (oh the vulgarity of it), but that's the way it was done.

HOWEVER, like the saying goes, too much of anything can't be a good thing. This is true with hair as well. There's nothing worse than coloring long scraggly frayed ends that are dying to be chopped off. Long hair does NOT automatically mean pretty hair. The only thing that equals pretty hair is HEALTHY hair.

One of America's most popular victims would be the country singer Crystal Gail. This is truly a beautiful woman, with totally tooooooo long hair. I'm not sure how she's wearing it these days but, in the peak of her career it was beyond belief long.

why she thought this was a good idea is beyond me..

My, what lovely ends you have....:-/

Unless you are the one and only, Rapunzel, please know this is a terrible idea.
