Get the Look!

If you liked the hair in our Ombre post, here is how to get it!
These are the products you will need : Oribe's Superfine Hair Spray, Oribe's Texture Spray, Bumble and Bumble's Brilliantine, and Bumble and Bumble's surf spray. Enjoy!

Step 1.Start with clean,
air or blow dried hair.

Step 2. Section off 2/3rds of hair with a clip.
(you will take 3 sections total)

Step 3.Use Oribe's superfine hair spray to protect
hair against heat and as a setting spray.
Spray each section before using iron.

Step 4. Hold curling iron vertical
and wrap hair around iron,
without using the claspe to hold hair. (tip: leave ends out)

Step 5. Repeat 4 all over head.

Step 6. Take  second section down,
while seperating  and leaving top section out.

Step 7. Repeat step 4 through section,
pay attention to the way the curls go around the face
if one side is curling in one way,
the other side should curl in the same direction  (both sides should be curling in or away from face *see step 9)

Step 8. Take down last and final section!

Step 9. Personalize the top/front pieces
while leaving the ends out.

Step 10. Personalize the bang area, only curling the last
3rd of the bang to add a little bend.

Step 11. Massage the scalp to provide
volume at the root.
(Tip: spray Oribe's texture spray at root for extra volume)

Step 12. Use Bumble and Bumble's Brilliantine
and Surf spray, to add more volume
(for lack of a better word) "scrunch" to get a messier, slept in look.

Step 13. Be happy and proud of your work of Art!

Oh Anne...

I think we all have our vices when it comes down to what websites suck us into the internet. My downtime in between clients can occasionally be spent looking through celebrity photos on popsugar.com. This site is definitely my celebrity crack, it's not filled with ridiculously elaborated stories about celebs, just nice photos of their hair and outfits. Today I came across photos of Anne Hathaway at the Premiere for her new movie, "Love and Other Drugs," and while Anne is such an "appropriate" brunette, I am LOVING her new highlights. They are this perfect "nutty caramel" brown..so "appropriate" for the cold months ahead of us..

I'm sure more pictures will surface of Anne rocking her new color, but until then, this is what I have to show. What do you think? Better as a dark sultry brunette or beautiful with a little more warmth added to her strands? Either way, I think we can all agree Anne is a knockout.

Actresses of the 70's Part One

A few weeks ago, my boyfriend left me at home alone to fend for myself while he went to Rochester for a work related seminar.  As much as I like to guilt trip him into thinking I'm feeling abandoned, I quite enjoy my alone time. This time can feel somewhat comforting on a Saturday night after a long week of work. I had the chance to watch a few sappy love stories through On Demand and my Netflix subscription. I like to indulge in the classics including leading ladies from the 70's.

In a modern world like this one, where our boobs aren't "big" enough, we aren't "thin" enough, "tan" enough, or in some cases, downright "good" enough, it's such a refreshing feeling to watch gorgeous natural women on screen.  So curled up on the couch alone, with cupcakes from Hello, a bottle of wine and at points my laptop at hand, I watched "The Way We Were." This movie is one my boyfriend has never been able to sit through and a must-see for me. I've seen it a trillion times and could never tire of it. Babs is a lady people either idolize or despise. I've always thought you could tell a lot about a person on how they feel about Barbra. I am a fan, always have been, always will be. In my eyes, Barbra Streisand's beauty is timeless, flaws (if you consider them flaws) and all. She posesses a rare talent of being an incredible actress and having an amazing voice.  I don't see ladies of this caliber getting much recognition these days, unfortunately.

Like many aspects of chick flicks from 70s I adore is usually the fashion. I'm not sure if this is due to my hippie mommy upbringing or my love of comfortable clothes..but I love the carefree elegance of the 70s.

Barbra Streisand is playing an extremely rare show at the comparatively tiny Village Vanuguard on Saturday.
Babs at the studio...born in Brooklyn, this could qualify her as the Original Hipster
Wowzas Barbra! Nice waistline by the way!

Our Rendition of Ombre

Hi everyone! So after a long run of blonde for Liana, she decided she
was ready for a change. As I have been a huge fan of her as a blonde,
I was very hesistant to do something super drastic. We decided this look
was the perfect compromise for the both of us. She gets her "change"
and I get to see my gorgeous sister as a blonde for a little bit longer...
After much hard work coloring her hair, we decided to create a mini
lookbook of her new do'...Hope you enjoy the photos!
